Uo-Sho @ Plaza Damas, Desa Sri Hartamas

After a not-so-satisfying meal as an ending for year 2021, I am glad to have an extraordinary WOW meal in the beginning of 2022. My bff brought me to this humble Japanese restaurant and we were both hooked on it, then we visited another time within the week.

Uo-Sho 魚匠

Hidden in Plaza Damas, this is a humble Japanese restaurant leaded by Kunio-san who is from Saitama, Tokyo; serving not only sushi but many others Japanese dishes such as grilled fish, nabe, ramen, donburi, yakitori, and drinks dishes or appetiser.

As you are entering the restaurant, your will be greeted with an array of sake and wine in the chiller. Once you have seated down, you may find yourself transported to Japan. The tables were occupied by the Japanese customers (during my visit on a weekday), the atmosphere was filled up by the Japanese conversations and laughter. Counter seats are quite limited. Happy that we got to secure 2 seats at the counter.

I always thought Kunio-san is only pro in kushiyaki and shabu (sadly these two were no longer there); but … little did I know, Kunio-san is a sushi chef himself!

So here we were, for his sushi!

Uo-Sho ‘s sushi is really mind-blowing. It wow-ed my heart. The flavour of the shari, the chewiness and the temperature are all on the point. Shari is the soul of the sushi itself. Kunio-san’s shari is extremely addictive, he brilliantly incorporates both red and black vinegar in making this addictive shari. I just couldn’t stop myself, continuing one after another. The flavours churned out as I chewed! Seriously very addictive and it made me visited another time within the week!

Extra ordered the Eihire (stingray fins) that is served along with mayonnaise and shichimi pepper; to go with our drinks. Why is Kunio-san’s version so delicious?! It was lightly charred, very aromatic, lightly sweeten but savoury at the same time. Perfect with our drinks of the night!

Because one is never enough, so two bottles of sake to go with our sushi and snack.
