When I am not in the mood for coffee, tea is always my best friend; and Dilmah tea is one the tea(s) I can always get from my cabinet. Being a huge fan of Dilmah tea, I have not really understood what is in the cup and also the story behind it. *ops*
Dilmah Tea, the world renowned producer-owned tea brand has launched its latest signature t-Lounge early March in Malaysia, taking one of the lots in IOI City Mall Putrajaya, also the first appearance of t-Lounge in Southeast Asia region as well as largest among its network. Congratulation!!! Thanks to Dilmah for this lovely invitation. I get to learn more about Dilmah, understand the story behind and experience on the different tea pairing!
Dilmah Tea was first started as a family business brand by Mr. Merrill J. Fernando, the founder of Dilmah and his sons are then joined in his mission and vision to bring out the highest quality of tea. This family tea has grown into an international brand that is enjoyed in over 1000 countries. Furthermore, their t-Lounge is now located worldwide namely in Kuwait, China, India, Sri Lanka, Poland and also t-Bar in Philippines.
During the grand launch of t-Lounge, I was able to witness the special ceremony with traditional gamelan performance, lighting of the traditional oil lamp, the VIP’s painting the letter “t” and the tea pairing workshop by Mr. Dilhan Fernando.
t-Lounge is designed with the concept of young and inspiring ambience and appreciation of the finest Ceylon tea experience, the tea experience will include fine tea, served hot or chilled, sparkling or in alluring mocktails or shooters. You may also find the speciality tea mix such as Dilmah’s Jade butterfly Handmde White Tea, Naturally Minty Ceyloy Pokoe, Minty Oolong and Cinnamon Orange Chilled T. These teas are offered with delightful casual, comfort food, some of which are prepared with tea as an ingredients or paired with specific teas. Limited edition Seasonal Flush and Single Estate teas are available too! Perfect for gifts!

The award-winning and professional tea mixologist, Miss Tess Posthumus was there, making us one of her mocktails specialties – Chai Speculate.
“Tea-pulling” or teh tarik in style!
During the tea pairing session, we were served with some tea-food pairing; Pulled Chai Tea paired with Baklava, Tie Guan Yin paired with Cheesecake and Original Earl Grey paired with Pizza. All these pairs were amazingly paired. Personally I love the Tie Guan Yin tea to pair with the creamy cheesecake. I didn’t know Chinese tea matches so well with western desserts like cheese cake. The creamy taste is washed down by the fragrant bit of Tie Guan Yin. Lovely! The sweet nutty Baklava was spiced with Pulled Chai Tea and left a special aroma lingering in the oral cavity.

The tea pairing session was really interesting! Do try it out, tea lovers out there!!! In addition, the t-Lounge in collaboration with the Dilmah School of Tea will host dedicated tea education and tasting events!
Special thanks to Dilmah for the limited edition Dilmah Seasonal Flush. There are only 1600 tins available worldwide. So rare and so precious!!! Really can’t wait til my tea session at home again to try it out!
With the pretty mixologist, Tess.
