The Rose Pompon Afternoon Tea @ The RuMa Hotel & Residences
I have tried The RuMa Hotel & Residences’ September menu and I was very impressed with the pastries on the tiers. As soon as they have a newly launched afternoon tea menu for October, I booked a table and managed to dine in with my family right before the CMCO.
This October, in support of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the RuMa Hotel and Residences has collaborated with Goutal Paris to present this pinkish and amazing The Rose Pompon Afternoon Tea, showcasing the 3-tier delectable desserts and pastries in pinkish hues; which are perfect for the afternoon. You will also get to receive a complimentary 1.5ml Rose Pompon sample and a Rm 50 voucher for the purchase of the perfume in Ken’s Apothecary; and 10% of the afternoon tea set sales will be donated to the Breast Cancer Welfare association Malaysia!
What’s more, you may also get 40% off for the Afternoon tea when paying with CIMB credit, debit and prepaid cards, promo runs until end of the October. So do the maths and it is about Rm 78 after discount paying with these bank cards, that’s quite worth paying for such quality experience (Maybe I will be heading over again if there is chance. Wink!).

Same as previous experience , the afternoon tea journey was begun with the handwashing ritual which is inspired from our local culture. The staff will pour water from the copper jug and we washed our hands and dried up with the cotton cloth provided.
Sweets, savouries and butter scones, prettily arranged in the classic 3-tier tray.
As there were plenty of us, I got to try more tea this round. The RuMa offers a wide selection of tea leaves by Voyage Tea to pair with the afternoon tea. There are black tea, green tea, chinese tea, fruit tea, and herbal and flower tea for you to choose from. This round, we had the Rose Black Tea, Mutan White Chinese Tea, Passion Plum Fruit Tea, Blood Orange Fruit Tea, and Cherry Blossom Green Tea.
You may also enhance the Rose Pompon Afternoon Tea experience with Bollinger Special Cuvee Champagne by glass or bottle at Rm 75 and Rm 380 respectively.
Or add on Bellini Cocktail (Rm 35) like I did. It came in soft pastel pinkish and tasted sourish sweet its fizziness; I believe all ladies would love it.
For the savouries, I love all of them! The House cured Salmon was very appetizing, so did the Semi-dried Heirloom Tomato Bruschetta. Both of them were really appetite-boosting! Prawn Vol Au Vent was flaky; Roasted Beetroot Tart was very buttery! I really love that tart base, buttery and aromatic; if only the beetroot cubes were more tangy or pickled, they will be the perfect match (personal preference)!
However, I have to say, the savouries this round tasted much yummier than September’s menu because everything was my favourite!
As for the sweet, they were undeniable lovely; all painted in the softest pinkish hues, fine and elegant; tasted very delicious and not sweet at all! Macaron was sandwiched with the refreshing calamansi and caramelized chocolate; Raspberry Frangipane was beautifully decorated and yep, berrylicious! Paris-brest was puffy, sandwiching the soft and fluffy mascarpone cream cheese. Yum! Strawberry Lychee Cake was hinted with fruity lychee scent; love it when the scent lingering around the oral cavity. And the most memorable one was the Single Origin Chocolate, Coffee, Pistachio mouse cake, beautified with chocolate thins and edible flower; it was rich and chocolaty, the aroma of the chocolate dispersed elegantly on the palate.
Plain Scones and Candied Orange Scones were buttery with crispy edges and fluffy center; served with Clotted Cream and Homemade Preserve Jam such as strawberry and calamansi flavour. However, I found the fruit scone this round was slightly sticky to the palate. The calamansi preserve was quite heart-wowing. I really wish they will pack up and sell the calamansi preserve in bottles as it was too good!
