Is located at Bukit Damansara, sharing the same rows with many famous eateries; Gin Rik Sha is a unique restaurant that serves modern Indian cuisine that comes with a lively twist. The dishes here are specially curated by the owner, made with loves with recipes from both her mother and mother in law’s kitchen that has been passed down from generations.

Gin Rik Sha means the “pulled richshaw” in Japanese, which gave me totally clueless on what’s the cuisine they are serving over here! Interestingly, it is quite a memorable name due to its special name versus the cuisine serving over here.

Mango Chicken Pappadoms
We started off our meal with a refreshing appetizer. We love the tangy sourish-ness of this loaded crispy pappadoms that worked as our appetite booster!

Buttermilk Prawns with Mantau Bun
I love this! It was buttery and aromatic, hinted with a spicy kick! The taste was kinda similar to the Chinese style butter crab. Super happy it came with mantau bun, we excitedly mopped finished the thick buttery gravy with the help of the bun.

Bombay Masala Salmon
With a piece of thick cut salmon on a bed of fluffy couscous and fully punched with spices. A hearty protein packed dish that is filled with the aroma of the spices! If only it comes with a lil’ more hint of heaty-ness, it will be more awesome.

Carrot Halwa Filo Pastry Samosas with Black Pepper Ice Cream
An interesting sweet ending and it was the first time I came across black pepper ice cream! Very very special with a hint of spiciness, compatible well with the fried samosas. Yum!

Not forgetting to have a glass of cocktail or mocktail to go with the modern Indian cuisine. Mocktails and cocktails here are lovely crafted with freshest infusions and spices. It was before Christmas when my friend and I went on this gastronomic evening in Gin Rik Sha; we got to sample their cocktails that came with a touch of Christmasy feel!

Baby Santa
A beautiful concoction that was dosed with brandy and it was a medium light drink.

Candy Cane
This was in Vodka base, it was sweet but stronger than the earlier one. It had a hint of Malaysian flavour in it and we thought it was pandan flavour. Surprisingly it wasn’t as it the corn juice that made the tricks. However, both cocktails were quite sweet to our likings but I preferred Baby Santa to this.
