Still figuring out where to bring your loved one for a romantic dinner on the Valentine’s Day which is coming in real soon? How about a romantic dinner date in Villa Danieli at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur?!
Classy, dimly-lit and fill with romantic ambience. This Tuscany-inspired restaurant Villa Danieli is now headed by Chef Roberto Panareillo who began his life as a chef in year 2001 at Philadelphia, USA where he embarked and established his interest in the culinary world at Dolce Vita as a Junior Sous Chef, a well-known Italian restaurant in the state. Chef Roberto was the recipient of the “World Luxury Restaurant Awards” 2015/2016 and was recently awarded as the “Best Head Chef” at the prestigious Golden Q Plaque 2019 aand the “Authentic Italian Restaurant Abroad – Thailand” in 2016 and 2018.
Many thanks to the team of Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur for the inviting me over to the dinner. That night for A Taste of Italy, I managed to sample a few signature dishes from the menu that is specially curated by Chef Roberto for the night. Chef’s cooking style is rustic and simple, yet innovative in his creation; used only finest and freshest ingredients in his cooking. He too includes passed-down recipe from his great grandmother.
Course 1: Antipasti
Tartare Di Tonne
Premium tuna is the highlight for the dish. Assembled with freshest ingredients such as imported green and black olives, sweet balsamic vinegar from Modena, Italy and the crunchiness of the shallots enhance the flavour of the fresh succulent tuna.
Course 2: Pasta
Ravioli Carbonara Di Mare
Homemade ravioli pasta, original Italian carbonara sauce and ravioli stuffing that is made of local seafood such as shrimp, mussels and baby cuttlefish; quite an interesting stuffing for ravioli. Delicious.
Course 3: Pesce
Merluzzo Alla Griglia Con salsa Alla Puttanesca
A beautiful dish made with air-flown cod fish from North European Sea, grilled to perfection and served with the real Italian tomato-based sauce Puttanesca, along with steamed vegetables, olives, capers and tomatoes. This is a recipe that has been in Chef Robereto’s family for nearly 80 years!
Course 4: Dolce
Panna Cotta Al Profumo Di Sardegna
Known as authentic Italian pudding with doink doink velvety smooth texture. Chef has recreated the panna cotta recipe which acts as a palate cleanser to end this gastronomic journey with him.
Aside from the above signature dishes of his, Chef Roberto has evolved the menu for Villa Danieli and made it into rustic Italian newspaper layout or known as Gazzetta; offering a wide selection from Antipasti to Dolce! Not to be missed, their pizza which is cooked to perfection in the traditional wood-fired oven is also a must have too!
