Ignis @ The Sphere, Bangsar South

  • Sumo

Thurs-Date with Mocas is always fun. We are the beef buddies, and we often try to check out new places, trying out new flavours. This time we headed to Ignis, which has been listed in our list for quite sometimes.

Ignis

Situated inside The Sphere at Bangsar South, Ignis is a wood fire grill restaurant that offers a Modern European cuisine with an Asian touch. Almost everything in their menu gets a touch of flames over the wood fire and charcoal grills; elevate the dishes with an aromatic charred smokiness.

First thing first, a White (Rm 25) for me. It was a Chardonnay on their house pour. Happy hour drinks menu is available on the weekdays, until 7pm. Do check with them if you fancy a drink.

Cold Capellini, Prawn, Miso, Tobiko (Rm 46)
Cold capellini is topped with tobiko, seaweed, and a huge prawn, garnished with lots of chopped spring onions and hinted with miso and truffle oil, very cooling and umami combination. As we stirred in, the aroma of the truffle oil diffused out. We love its aromatic balance as well as its umaminess.

Angus Beef Flatiron, Caramelised Onion Puree, Watercress (Rm 141)
Came beautifully in pinkish hue and done medium rare. It was very tender and juicy, went great with the caramelised onion puree that gave a light sweetness to the beef slices. Yummy!

Grilled Mochi, Soy Caramel, Cashew Nut (Rm 9)
Being a big fan of mochi, how could we skip this on the menu?! The mochi bar is grilled to its soft chewiness, dressed with savoury sweet soy caramel and sprinkled with the crushed cashew nuts.

Grilled Grapes, Parmesan Biscuit, Yogurt Dip (Rm 30)
I once had the grilled grapes from Raw Kitchen Hall and I was then hooked on it. Raw Kitchen Hall made grilled grapes as a starter while here in Ignis, it made it as a dessert. The grapes were sweet and smokey with the charred flavours from the flames, paired well the mousse-liked tangy yoghurt dip and savoury Parmesan Biscuits. Only if… the grape’s skin is peeled off and left only the flesh, that will be even more awesome . Hahaha.
