Red and Gold, symbolizing the warmth festive season.
Ho Ho Ho, it’s the jolly festive month again!!! How time flies! I am sure we all love this warmth happening December where it’s the arrival of Santa Clause to the town as well as the welcoming the New Year. Who doesn’t love it?!
Cocktail – Grinch (Rm 21++) & Mocktail – Rudolf Goes Green (Rm 15++)
And so, on Christmas Eve, Samplings on the Fourteenth Restaurant is offering a festive set meal specially crafted by Chef Val, the Chef de Cuisine of the restaurant. Dining in here has never failed to amaze me. Years back, I had a great dining experience on the MIGF menu. And on this Christmas eve set meal, the chef put in a bit of everything that symbolize this joyous festive season and presented them on the plates.
Christmas Eve Dinner
Four Course Set Meal
Priced at Rm 158++ per pax
Variety of freshly baked bread for you to choose from; one of them is the wheat bread.
We started off with Smoked Salmon and Prawn Salad. This appetizer came arranged neatly with slices of smoked salmon, served with Tomato Tart, Lemon Chive Vinaigrette. Love the tomato tart that is layered with buttery pastry and the prawns. This combination contrasted prettily with the fresh poached prawn and the tangy sides.
Cream of Pumpkin Soup
Presented in a vibrant orangey colour, this was the rich soup made of fresh pumpkin with a dollop of pumpkin puree and touched with sour cream. Don’t forget to ask for the sprinkle of grounded black pepper, it made a difference to the soup.
Minted Watermelon Sorbet
Refreshing palate cleanser before the mains.
There are 3 mains for you to choose from: Roast Christmas Turkey, Slow Roasted Lamb Shank with Rosemary Juice or Pan Seared Cod.
Roast Christmas Turkey
Served with Bacon Wrapped Sage and Onion Stuffing, Roasted Potatoes, Buttered Brussels sprouts and Carrots and finally drenched with your choice of Cranberry or Apple Sauce
Slow Roasted Lamb Shank with Rosemary Juice
What a huge lamb shank!!! Slowly roasted into perfection and served on a bed of parmesan polenta and grilled baby vegetables.
Pan Seared Cod
Huge chunk of cod beautified with colourful elements such as potato and leek mash, wild Mushrooms, cured cherry tomato and olive tart and saffron nage. Just like a piece of art! In order to keep the fresh flavour of the sea, chef used only very simple and minimal seasoning in it.
Chestnut Millet Feuille as the sweet ending.
It was served with orange flavoured Christmas pudding and Cinnamon ice cream. The chestnut mille feuille was the layers of puff pastry and interlayer with creamy chestnut cream, married well with the nicely spiced cinnamon ice cream. Am not a big fan of Christmas pudding or fruit cake always, but I do love to have them with a cup of black coffee.
Don’t run away before the serving of Christmas Petit Four and your choice of coffee or tea.
No idea where to party out or eat out on Christmas eve?!
