HALO @ The Gasket Alley, Petaling Jaya
Suaku me first time came to The Gasket Alley and found myself a whole new world. It is such a chic place filled with hipster vibe and at once, I felt myself so “young” among these youngsters too, LOL. I was actually here for the Whisky-Lah event and also to check out this place I was longing to try!
HALO
HALO is specializing in artisanal sourdough doughnuts that are pillow-y soft and fluffy, light and easy to go. It is easily spotted here inside The Gasket Alley; it has a dreamy turquoise frame contrasting red brick wall. Quite a cute one and its doughnut’s sign is really cute. Located just next to Coffeeboy Club.
I stood in front of the showcase counter, thinking on which one to get, trying my best not to take up the queue too long. The indecisive in me had a hard time to choose just TWO. There were a variety of flavours on the showcase counter, 13 types of them, in two rows; all are very well elaborated.
I ended up picking the bestseller (yes, I asked for recommendation!) – Burnt & Salty and the other seasonal (I supposed) item – London Fog. Wow, both were pillow-y soft and fluffy, very airy as though biting into the cotton cloud, with an almost melt-in-mouth texture.
The coating weren’t too cloyingly sweet, just nice. Burnt & Salty was sweet and savoury while London Fog was prettily decorated with chocolate curls and it was touched with a soft hint of earl grey. Pretty outstanding kind of doughnuts and I was very happy with my picks.
As there aren’t many seating around, so it can be a little messy when biting into these cloud-like doughnuts. Luckily there are washrooms nearby.
Burnt & Salty (RM 9)
