TOKYO: Shibuya Sky @ Shibuya Scramble Square

  • Sumo

Tokyo is full of trendy spots but if you asked me where is the hottest spot in Tokyo right now, I think it has to go to this place in Shibuya; the Shibuya Sky which is located at the Shibuya Scramble Square.

Shibuya Sky

is the newest and hottest rooftop observatory deck that has just opened up its door in November 2019; offering a full 360 degree spectacular view of Shibuya district. It is located high up in 229 metre tall Shibuya Scramble Square and I was in time to be one of the first few batches to check out this coolest place in the city!

At the ground floor of Shibuya Scramble Square, we took the lift up to 14th floor – the Sky Gate which housed the ticket purchase counter and also the main access to the Sky Stage (the rooftop observation deck) by the elevator.

The admission fee is priced at ¥ 2000 for adult. We pre-purchased our ticket online and it was ¥ 1800 per pax.

TIPS: Sunset view over here is pretty amazing. On the clear day, you will be able to get the Mount Fuji view (in mini size). Remember to check out the sunset time before purchasing the ticket. Enter the facility 30 mins to 1 hour prior to the sunset time, so you can get 3 views: day, sunset and night views. Sunset timing’s tickets are always selling fast. Be sure to purchase online.

In November 2019, the sun is set at around 4.30pm (local time). We bought the 3.40pm slot and entered around that time.

As the lift took us straight up to the observatory floor, the light was darkening and there was a beautiful digital projecting playing on the ceiling of the elevator, completed with sounds effect and some wind (I felt).

Once arrived at the Sky Stage, you are required to keep your belongings including cap, hat, selfie stick, bag, umbrella and etc into the locker provided. After that, you are free to roam around the space. Just take your time to enjoy the scenic skyscraper view of Shibuya district slowly and freely.
