January has been an awesome month to me, aside from the self-pampering on the delicious sushi course in Sushi Oribe , I also won a dinner from First Classe Malaysia to dine in Babe! Yoohoo! (Writing this late because of my procrastination again. Opps!) Thanks to First Classe Malaysia for the biggest birthday present ever!
Babe: Japas Fun Dining
Situated up here in Work @ Clearwater, Damansara Heights is a restaurant that is equipped with the awesome panoramic view of KL. Babe is specializing in Japas (modern Japanese tapas) through a unique fun dining experience; owned by Chef Jeff Ramsey, the Michellin-Starred Chef who earned his first Michelin star at the age of 32 while working as the Executive Chef of Tapas Molecular Bar at the 6-star Mandarin Oriental Tokyo hotel.
I have been longing to try out this place for the longest time. Here comes the chance, brought my sushi kaki along to savour the fun and exciting dining experience. *Bucket list ticked, yay* But again, menu may have changed. Here am I going to share my experience in Babe.
Oh yes, perfect view for dinner
We were started off with a “sensory guessing game” amuse broche Drink Me that was pretty much inspired by the Alice in the Wonderland. We were presented with 2 vials of test tubes filled with coloured liquid and asked to guess the ‘flavour’ that resembled the dishes.
Shake the test tube, sniff it, and drink (taste) it.
Chef has masked the original colour of the dishes to colourful vibrant one. So I found the blue one was tough; it tasted buttery, it was actually the buttermilk chicken or salted egg yolk chicken while the pink one was savoury; it was the okonomiyaki.
Uni and King Crab Meringue
Shiso leaf, apple meringue and yuzu zen
Oh my, this combination was mind blowing! The meringue was very light and fluffy, topped with all the sea creatures I love!
Hot and Cold Pumpkin and Amaebi Prawn
Rich Seafood Bisque with Charcoal Crouton and Perilla Flowers
Creamy, aromatic and delicious bisque, I couldn’t help to ‘lick’ clean the bowl. Just too good!
Crispy Tart Shell with Fromage Blanc and Hanaho
Stunning tartlet with very thin crispy shell and topped with creamy soft cheese and beatified shiso flower. I always have a thing in this shiso flower. Tastewise, they complemented really well.
Mushroom and Parsnip
Japanese Mushroom Pate with pickled mushroom, parsnip puree and crisp.
Some cheese and rice rings, with curry leaves underneath.
Potato puree, confit leek, crispy potato and curry leaf aroma
Soon as we were served with this dish, the staff poured something into the vessel earlier that filled with curry leaves, and bringing out the aroma of the curry leaves to go along with this warm oyster dish. Such a sight, scent and taste moment. Not to mention, the oyster was really good, dressing with smooth potato puree flavoured with leek. Yum!
Babe-n-Dazs Crispy Sandwich
With ice cream Infused with foie gras and Martell VSOP Cognac
Such interesting and it was so so so so so yummy!!!
Roast celeriac puree, kiriboshi winter vegetable and lemon soy vinaigrette
Risotto with poached sakura chicken and jinseng ankake
We needed more droplets of ginseng oil and truffle oil to our samgyetang. Perhaps we fancied strong flavor dish.

Spherified Pumpkin Pie
Spiced crumble and orange sorbet.
A very nice sweet ending, smooth and creamy; but it was just too satiating to my liking. Perhaps I was too full from the course. Hehe.
