This… has got to be one of the BEST AFTERNOON TEA(s) I ever had! Absolutely impressive!
I know, for sure you will query me on the earlier one I’ve blogged about. Yes yes, that one is the best afternoon tea spread I have come across; where you are able to enjoy the sweets and savouries from noon till early evening. Whereas this one, it will be another experience, truly a tai-tai way to experience 3-tier-kind afternoon tea in elegant tray.

Sitting high up at Level 53 Banyan Tree and Residence, one of the newest and luxury hotels in the city. Built with high ceilings and the perfect floor to ceiling glass window, you will be greeted with the magnificent KL skyline, overlooking both KL Tower and Petronas Twin Towers. What’s more when you are able to fit all these towers in a frame!
The areas between tables are slightly partitioned, giving you and your guests some privacy from the other tables’ diners. I’d liked that idea.
Started off with the savouries and you will be welcomed with Garden Herbs Garlic Tuile, Tosemary Coral Crisp and Lobster Cone in a cocktail glass. These savouries were really aromatic and appetizing, clearly awaken your after-lunch-palate for the next.
And then the trio savouries of Beetroot Macaron with House cured Atlantic Salmon with Dill and Sour Crème, Roasted Beef Sandwich with Horseradish Sauce and Foie Gras Delights – Pancake coated Foie Gras with Banyula Shallot.
I loved The Sea Wave which was the Sea Urchin Crème with Granny Smith Apple and Shaved Bottarga. How not to love it when my favourite ingredient was served in this transparent aquarium-liked bowl; the green apple slices freshen up the palate after the creamy rich texture. Curry cappuccino was equally delicious, with Crab Meat Grissini, Ginger and Lemongrass in the shooter glass.

The sweets came elegantly in the 3-tier fancy tray. The lowest tier was filled with classic plain scones and fruity cranberry scone, served along with authentic clotted cream and homemade cherry jam; Teh Tarik Choux Pastry that is filled with Teh Tarik Pastry Cream, Chocolate Hazelnut and Gianduja Molten Heart; and Cherry-Choc with Cherry Mousse, Cherry Jelly, Almond Sponge and Sea Salt Chocolate Sable
On the second tier was filled with the Pistachio Macaron, Mango Passion-fruit explosion with Passion Fruit Mousse, Mango Jelly and Green Tea Sponge, Raspberry & Violet Mousse Cake with 35% Glazed White Chocolate, and the Strawberry Eton Mess with Vanilla Pastry Cream, Strawberry Sauce, Fresh Strawberry, Coconut Meringue Almond Sponge. Coming to the top layer was the cutesy little doughnuts.
Everything was so fine on the second layer and I love them all. As you can see these mini mousse cake, they were very detail and delicate. Definitely take times to firm them prettily. Also, the sable was rich and delectable!
