December Dinner @ Ebony & Ivory Coffee, Cheras
Here to my favourite neighbourhood café in Cheras – Ebony & Ivory Coffee ; a place I visited quite often for a comfort bowl and a dose of caffeine when I worked nearby here.
To be honest, I have not visited them after they have revamped the place. That’s because of the heavy brunch crowd (they are very famous) and the parking issue at this neighbourhood area. But this December, they come up with dinner service, there is better chance to get a parking in the evening.
They offer dinner service in December, operating only two days in a week, on Friday and Saturday; from 6.30pm to 10pm. Not sure if they’ll continue offering dinner service in the future, but I really hope they do! Their dinner menu (as of now) is small but a very hearty one, featuring handmade pasta and three carnivore main options where you can pick from beef, chicken and pork. There are also three dessert options and a selection of cocktails too!
Summer Fling (RM 38)
Earl Grey-infused Gin, Passionfruit Clarified, Lemon Juice, Osmanthus Syrup
Prawn & Courgette Pappardelle (RM 43)
Large and broad flat ribbon pasta adsorbing the sauce, really nice in the chewiness texture.
Lemon Burnt Butter & Herbs Tagliolini (RM 38)
This was really good and we ordered another portion too! The tagliolini was in rich golden color, with a doink doink texture. I really like it, its texture was as though the HK style doink doink wanton noodle but in thicker version. The tagliolini carried the rich, aromatic fats exceptionally well!
Gochunjang Soju Tagliatelle (RM 40)
Ahhh, that’s a special and brilliant combo, Korean flavoured in the pasta!
Argentina Chilled Angus Ribeye, Grain-fed (RM 38/100g)
Ours came at 268gram, which was about RM 100-ish. The steak was lovely, succulent and tender; I love the charred smokey edge! Very aromatic.
Kurobuta Pork Schnitzel with Burnt Leek Sauce and Baked Cabbage (RM 38)
Crispy Chicken with Pumpkin Puree and Quinoa Salsa (RM 35)
I would say this dish was on the healthier side, if only there was a slight more marinate or seasoning on the chicken, that would be perfect. But I guess it is meant to flavour up by the natural sweetness of the pumpkin puree and the tanginess from the quinoa salsa.
Sticky Banana Pudding with Homemade Ice Cream (RM 26)
This combination can be a little on the sweeter side, but who cares; it’s festive season! I quite like that burnt caramel bitterness to go with the pudding and ice cream.
Karpatka with Whiskey Custard and Cherry (RM 30)
A rustic looking dessert made of airy choux pastry with thick luscious custard cream fillings and cherries.
