Pao Xiang Bak Kiut Teh 宝香绑线肉骨茶 @ Taman Connaught, Cheras

Pao Xiang Bak Kut Teh  宝香绑线肉骨茶; Famous for its string tied meat is now in Taman Connaught.

Business is seriously good; the meaty portions are always selling fast. There were a few times (during weekends) my parents and I tried our luck (at about 1.30pm), sadly, we always never get to try them out. the meaty portions were sold out at those times.

and so, this time we were there in the morning, 10am; surprisingly, the place was crowded and we had to wait for table.

We tried on these which are priced at RM 9.50 per pot.

The pot was rather small with the candle lit up underneath to maintain the warm temperature of the soup and pork. The pork or meaty slices were squeezed in the small pot and left not much space for the soup.

“The meat is cleaned of fat and blood and was tired with string before cooking. This has reduced the fat in the meat and to ensure the integrity and chewiness of meat yet retaining its juiciness and tender texture while making it absorbs much essences of their secret recipe herbal soup.”

Verdict:
I love the stickiness and collagen-ous-liked texture in the soup.

However, the complain: there wasn’t enough soup for me. And the volume of soup in these small pots were never enough to feed 5 of us.
I am not too sure if soup refill is allowed (FOC-ly or chargeable).
Sui Kut Tang ki(s) and Sui Kut are roughly the same.
and, the waiter seems to pushing us out by collecting the utensils and cleaning our table (without asking for permission to do so) while we were still sipping our tea!!!

  • ai wei, these look great! i can see that the meat is absorbing the soup of the BKT thus making it to be very fragrant isn't it? I prefer the the meat to be skinnier =]

  • baby sumo,
they are every where now. lolx 😛

    taufulou,
true. best during the rainy and moody day. love the fatty portion.

    WyYv,
it's quite fragrant but then the soup was always not enough for meat. i love the fatty portion mix with lil' skinny portion lor.

    simon seow,
long time never try the one from klang. dun remember how it tastes d. ><

  • chris,
    肥才好吃呀。 呵呵。

    joe,
ya lor ya lor. till now they have 9 or 10 shops d. guess they really want franchising this.

    jasmine,
ya, if not mistaken, there is one in puchong. 🙂

    choiyen,
    how nice…

  • haha, i see.. normally wen i go eat BKT, i would ask the waiter to get me some extra soup in bowl or will ask for refill xD

  • Agree with Joe. They're like everywhere nowadays.

The small bowls are common sight in Klang, according to Calvin. The 1U outlet refills our soup for free but only once though.

  • I hv tried out this new outlet today since it's just 5 minutes drive from my rented place.

Their BKT and soup is quite nice, my complaints are broken teapot and bowl are used to serve customers and also hire too many foreign workers.

Free soup refill, but not so sure for how many refills are allowed.

They are like chain store with many outlets in the Klang Valley.

Taman Connaught's outlet already open at 8.30am or may be earlier.

  • i tried before..
all BKT i guess the same lo..
famous one nt much soup given..
tried once at a so so restaurant asked for more soup they say no more already…
