辉记蒸鱼头 @ Restaurant Yulek, Taman Cheras
Back to my peng leng jeng series and I must share this with you guys. Recently I have found out this awesome spot for dinner, which is truly a hidden gem. Good flavours and price is extremely affordable.
辉记蒸鱼头
辉记蒸鱼头 is a small stall hidden inside Restaurant Yulek in Taman Cheras, which is situated right opposite Hau Kee Seafood Restaurant.
During the day, they offer stir fry plated rice like gu lou yok rice or hokkien mee. Their hokkien mee is pretty decent. At night starting from 6pm onwards, they offer simple siu chao dishes (小炒) such as steamed fish, gu lou yok, mui choy kao yuk, stir fried vegetable, steamed egg, and tofu. Dishes are priced very affordably and they offer set dinner (with 3 dishes) at just RM 53 that comes with steamed fish, a meat dish (or egg or tofu) and a vegetable!
At just RM 53!!! You read it! Portion is pretty decent too, good enough to feed 3 to 4 people. We had the Steamed Tilapia fish with Assam, Stir-fried vegetables and the gu lou yok (sweet and sour pork). Sweet and Sour Pork was good in flavour, crispy skin and coated with the sweet and sour sauce. Steamed Tilapia fish with Assam was nicely done too, dosed with quite a bit of condiments like lady’s fingers, tomato wedges and onion slices. Its gravy was indeed very good to go with the bowl of fluffy white rice.

As there were four of us, we added on the Steamed Egg with Three Treasure (RM 12) too. Steamed egg wasn’t the silkiest one but it was quite okay, the portion was huge and loaded with salted egg yolk and century egg.
Small portion of rice comes at RM 1.5 while big portion is at RM 2.
