Park Lounge Afternoon Tea @ Park Hyatt KL
Ahhh tai-tai life – well, a fake tai-tai life to be exact. It’s been far too long since I indulged in a little afternoon luxury. Spotted this new afternoon tea place that is set high on the Level 75 of Malaysia’s tallest building, and of course I had to check it out – Park Lounge Afternoon Tea at Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
Park Lounge Afternoon Tea
RM 218 per set
Served with coffee or tea
Instead of the traditional 3-tier tray, the Park Lounge Afternoon Tea is designed as a refined multi-course experience. We were served with amuse bouche, savoury course and palate cleanser before proceeding to classic elements like scones and mini madeleine, and finally the elegant pastries from the dessert trolley.
The afternoon tea is complemented with unlimited pours of tea or coffee. Or you may top up to enjoy it with a glass of champagne or sparkling tea.
We were overjoyed as we got to taste quite a number of teas from the list! We tasted the signature blend, and some of the black tea, white tea, green tea and herbal tea!
Savouries and sweets, tea and long hours chat, and of course the great companies. That’s how we ended up staying at this spot for long hours, munching sweets and sipping tea.
Welcome Drink – Kombucha made of hibiscus, lemongrass and ginger.
Amuse
Kalix Vendace Roe
Shokupan Toast
Savoury
Crispy Rice Spicy Salmon
Deep fried rice into crisp; topped with spicy mayo salmon and garnished with green chillies.
Blue Swimmer Crab Roll
Brioche with king crab and topped with yuzu, cucumber, tarragon. Something we fancied the most and it stood out the most after the first two course. This was tangy, citrusy and very refreshing.
Lobster Dumpling
Tom Kha, chilli Oil
Dumpling was really good. It was comforting and refreshing and very appetizing: dosed with the creamy coconut milk and infused with great aroma of lemongrass. I love this course the most!
Calamansi Sorbet
Layered with fresh apple cubes, apple jelly, and topped with vanilla tuile
Classic Scones – plain and raisin, Mini Madeleines
served with artisan jams and clotted cream
Scones were good. They were compact yet fluffy and not the kind that run sticky in between teeth.
Here comes their signature Dessert Trolley with a selection of daily cake and pastries. Each afternoon tea set comes with two pastries; so we were able to pick up six in a total! And served with a variety of chocolate! LOL sugar rush!
Ahh well, no sight of their house’s signature Mille-feuille or perhaps that is only available in their la carte menu (?), so we selected these few from the trolley: Hazelnut Éclair, Vanilla Bean, Raspberry and Lychee, Yuzu … something (LOL), Coconut (with tangy mango cubes and coconut jelly inside) and Canele.
favourite has to be the Yuzu … something (haih, I didn’t catch its full name) and the Coconut, for their citrusy tangy note. Hazelnut Éclair was pretty fluffy with the nice hazelnut cream, I like it too. While the Raspebrry and Lychee mousse was too hard to my liking, not the kind of mousse I expected.
Heirloom Bartlett Pear
Chinese Mutan white tea blended with pear, apple, peach and cinnamon. I really like this white tea; it was light, with a fruity balance. A perfect start to go with the savouries.
Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur Signature Tea Blend
A blend of rooibos, hibiscus, orange peel and mangosteen; carefully picked and bleneded exclusively for Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
Raspberry
A vibrant blend of rosehips, hibiscus, orange peel with the raspberry flavours balancing tartness and sweetness. A great pick to go with the pastries and chocolate from the dessert trolley.
Organic Bangkok
Green tea with lemongrass, vanilla, coconut, and ginger; packed with the essence of thai flavours. On the nose, there was a coconut scent, while on my palate; it was ended with lemongrass and ginger.
I ended my course with this Florence Black Tea. It is a luxurious black tea blend of chocolate and hazelnut, and it was smoky on the nose.
And also… Happy Birthday to our pretty Adeline <3
