There are a lot to eat at Jiufen Old Street (or Ji Shan Jie 基山街) but most of them close at around 6 – 7pm. Hence, we took a stroll along Shùqí Road to check out what’s good for dinner since we were told that there are few teahouses open till late. Glad to find that Xi Meng Ren Sheng Teahouse 戲夢人生茶飯館 was still opened and they serve noodles and rice! I was actually not-so-into-it when the old people said they wanna dine in here. Touristy spot eh, I doubted the food will taste good. Since they were craving for rice, I had no choice but walked in with them. Happily, they ordered a set dinner that came with few dishes and rice (old people can’t live without rice).

Xi Meng Ren Sheng Tea House 戲夢人生茶飯館 is a pretty amazing place with the perfect view of Jiufen. From here, you get a scenic view and A-Mei Teahouse is just right opposite from here. It housed 3 floors; the ground floor is where the cashier seated and this floor is filled with amazing vintage usable décors from those old days, the first floors and second floors are seats for the customers and decorated with vintage movie posters. We took the seat right on the highest floor. It was quite peaceful to be here, with the picturesque view of the street and swayed along with the 60’s, 70’s musical notes.

Our dinner set is priced at NT$ 1600 comes with Braised Pork Trotters, Pan Grilled Fish, Stir-fried Cabbage, Deboned Chicken and Mushrooms and Bamboo Shoots Soup and pearl rice. Surprisingly, all of these Taiwanese dishes were really good. We wished to sit in longer and move along with the songs; disappointedly, we were told that they were about to close at around 8-ish.
