CONTI’ Cocktail Bar @ Taman Bukit Desa, KL
CONTI’
Café Superfluous by the day and cocktail bar by sundown, CONTI’ is a speakeasy-style cocktail bar that lit up the street here in the quiet Taman Bukit Desa neighbourhood, stirring up unique concoctions of cocktails that are punching and potent. Oh yes, they offer you a stronger dose in your glass as compared to any other out there.
CONTI’ has evolved quite a lot, they offer pages of drinks menu with a wider cocktail selections now, fancier but potent as usual. I managed to have a quick chat with the co-founder Justin, that’s pretty interesting with his story sharing; seeing how passionate he is, building up this space, from a totally different background with zero experiences to now and they even won a prize from the cocktail competition!
Fake Beer (RM 53)
Four pillars rare dry gin, mango, pandan, coconut, black tea cordial, coconut foam
This is the award winning cocktail in Four Pillars Australian Gin Open Champion; it looks like a beer but definitely not a beer. That’s really cool eh! It was foamy creamy on the front note with refreshing fragrant aftertaste, with a hint of mango and pandan.
Fluffy Cloud (RM 55)
Four pillars rare dry gin, kwai feh lychee, lime, blue curacao, egg white, cream, soda
Dreamy in pastel blue with touches of white, it appeared to be light and fluffy, as soft as the cloud. On my palate, it was creamy and the lychee flavours came first followed by a strong wowing kick of the gin.
Rainy (RM 52)
Four pillars rare dry gin, umeshu, green tea, dry vermouth, bitters, shiozakura saline
This is my kind of thing! I found something I really like this time! That’s RAINY! Haha. It was aromatic and very well balance in every sip. CONTI’ s menu covers all four other seasons in Malaysia too – sunny, cloudy, rainy (this) and hazy. That’s really interesting!
Something new to be on the menu soon, it is currently name as Iceberg (at the moment). Very beautiful isn’t it?!
Also, CONTI’ has quite an interesting food menu now and the dishes here are REALLY something! Quite palate-wowing, I must say. Food menu appears as a pop up style, available on Friday and Saturday only. So you may now grab your gang of friends to come early on these two days, be it after work meet up or date night out. Drop by to enjoy appetisers, mains dishes and snack bites, pairing them up with glasses of kicking cocktails!
Mushroom Parfait (RM 24)
Sourdough, pickled onions, truffle oil
A very rich pâté with a very smooth consistency, jam-packed with the mushroom and truffle aroma.
Beef Ragu Dips (RM 25)
Papadum chips, sour cream, parmesan
Crispy Potato (RM 20)
Sous vide potatoes, garlic mayo
It may look ordinary but the potatoes were really crispy on the outside with powdery fluff center!
Chili Fish Puri (RM 20)
Sweet tangy sauce, garlic aioli
Sweet, savoury and sourish all filled up inside the cute puffy deep-fried, unleavened Indian bread.
Seafood Orecchiette (RM 35)
Kantan cream, squid, prawns, semola pasta
Rich, buttery and creamy kantan cream and its beautiful aroma coated perfectly on each Orecchiette, jam-packed with a medley of sea essence too. Very delicious. It also tasted like the fragrant in the tomyum but without the heat.
Snapper Lemak (RM 52)
Dill and corn lemak sauce, charred pucuk paku
Another mind blowing dish! Snapper pan-fried to perfection and dressed with dill and corn lemak sauce, layered on to a bed of charred pucuk paku. Flavour wise, it was all on the point and the charred pucuk paku has a nice distinctive smokiness and umami flavour. YUM!
