Day Trip in Perlis: Gua Kelam & Khuan Bee Kopitiam

36km away from the Kangar, city of Perlis is this place known as Kaki Bukit. There is this place of attraction called Gua Kelam, a limestone caves that lit up with colourful lights and the visitors can experience the walking along the bridge while enjoying the natural limestone.

It is actually a recreational park; where you get to see folks bringing their family and children here to picnic and enjoy the cool fresh water.

There is an underground river lying down there, which is at the length of 400 metres, flowing through the limestone where one get to see when passes walking in the cave.

One the other end of the gua, it’s actually a park that worth visiting.

There are both puisi and pantun dedicated for this gua.

It is then the time for tea after a walk in and out and around Gua Kelam. There is this Khuan Bee Kopitiam at this Kaki Bukit area which is famous for handmade pau(s) and kaya puff (puff with sweet coconut jam).

Dai pau (big pau) which is good for sharing; stuffed with meat, eggs and mushrooms.

The others pau(s) available are such as vegetable pau, char siu pau, kaya pau, red bean paste pau…

Char siu pau was great too! love the juicy sweet fillings of minced pork!

Loh Mai Kai (glutinous rice with chicken) was pretty decent.

The puff which I would like to shout out about, the flaky puff pastry with kaya that made with duck egg, it was so good! We could only share the few among ourselves as there were the last 5 pieces on the tray for the day. Honestly, I never had enough of this!!!

Duck egg kaya on sales too! But it was sold out already, priced at Rm 3.50 per small tub.
