KAPPA Kaisen Izakaya @ Bukit Damansara, KL

Izakaya bites + highballs, it has been a really long while. What’s more when you have great souls to kanpai together!

It is always fun to have them (Jessie, Jean and Sze) around, doing our girls’ night out with good food plus a drink or two. This round we chopped this place after hearing and reading good reviews about it, especially their tempura!

KAPPA Kaisen Izakaya

Located on the first floor of a premise in Bukit Damansara, KAPPA Kaisen Izakaya is a merry happening izakaya, filled with the vibe and fun. The menu is pretty extensive, covering from snack bites to sushi to sashimi, tempura to fried and grilled items. They even have the Otsukare set that works great as an appreciation for someone’s hard work or effort! I definitely need this every day after work LOL!

Honestly, this izakaya is kinda… dangerous good, LOL. It will make you keep ordering from the ordering device. That’s because their snacks and bites are soooo good to go with the drinks, be it with a sour or highball or sake.

Sushi Tacos are their signature over here; you may have it with the Shrimp Tempura, or Tuna & engawa, or Tuna & Onion (which was my pick). The sushi rice topped with your choice of ingredients, encased by a layer of crispy fried nori. The combination of the Sushi Taco I had was really good.

Must must must also check out their Tempura! Their tempura(s) are battered very lightly and thinly and deep fried into perfection. The tempura(s) we had were all in paper thin crisp batter, served piping hot. They were the tempura with the thinnest batter I came across so far! All we ordered were compatible well with our drinks, especially the Fried Mochi Cheese and Mentaiko with Shiso Leaf!

And be sure to catch your seats at the counter, so you are able to get the view of chefs preparing your dishes.

Happy hour is available from 5pm until 7pm. Without hesitation, we gulped down one round of Kaku Highball (RM 14) and ordered another round before the happy hour deal ends. Love the glass they use for serving their drinks. Thin glass rim gives a max fizziness pleasure of the highball on the lips and palate!
