Hee Loy Fatt @ Kampung Baru Balakong, Seri Kembangan

Category : Balakong, Chinese Food, Seri Kembangan

We are bored with our usual family-dining-out restaurant/ chu char place. It is time to check out some new places.

Travel a little further away from Cheras, we found this hidden gem, Hee Loy Fatt which is located inside Balakong New Village. I am sure the Balakong folks know quite well about this restaurant. During the days, it draws patrons for lunch; especially patrons who are working around that industrial or office area. Actually, it is not a new place to us as we were brought to this restaurant for few times; just happened that my camera was not with me every time I went there. Not until a family gathering recently, I was finally equipped.

Vege (RM 12)

Stir-fry Long Bean with Salted Egg Yolk (RM 15)

Pla dib @ The Heritage Village, Seri Kembangan

Category : Fusion Food, Italian Food, Japanese Food, Seri Kembangan

If it was not The Star, We would not be able to find out this hidden gem.

Pla dib, the Bangkok’s top-ranked Thai fusion restaurant, has just started their business 3 months ago, situate at here Heritage Village, Seri Kembangan; facing a great view of 50-acre lake; serving the very interesting Thai fusion dishes.

Pla dib means “raw fish” in Thai.

We ran through the menu – pasta, pizza, main courses, fusion appetizers… it is more like Japanese fusion dishes or Italian cuisine. there was no sight of tom yum too.

Chris&Christine and I were here last Saturday, to savour a Fusion meal together

Fusion dishes eh?!
Let’s see what we had.

Salt and Pepper Squid (RM 15)
The deep fried squid seasoned with salt and pepper.

Soft Shell Crab Salad (RM 15) with mayobi dressing.
The dressing is a mix of wasabi and mayonnaise. A lovely dressing it is but I find the amount of the dressing was not enough to wet our salad.

Black Fried Rice (RM 18) with squid ink and seafood
it was served with a raw egg.

Pour in the raw egg on the piping hot rice and mix well.
We love the combination of the egg in our spicy blacky-looking rice. And the additional of basil leaves were added to reduce the hotness from the chili padi. Love it, spicy and definitely best for the spicy food lovers.

Creamy Cappelini Angel Hair with Ebikko (RM 18)
Creamy and fragrant with light roasted garlic oil!!! and I love the crunchiness of ebikko in every forkful of the angel hair.

Free Dessert with every purchase of the main course!!!
That’s what we got for below ^^
and we paid roughly RM 25 (per pax) for this meal

Tham Thim Khrob (RM 8) made with shaved coconut milk loaded with red rubies was very fresh and a thirst-quenching one.

Flamed Crispy Mango with Ice cream (RM 8)

Durian Gelato (RM 8) was something new in the menu.
Their handmade durian ice cream was strong and fragrant and rich with durian. They love it.

Verdict: The food here was great. The presentation for the food was nice too. However, the environment in the restaurant was a bit too dark for me. Well, I must say this is a great place for the couples to drop by; either enjoying the meals in the dim-lit restaurant or sitting by the lake with the cool breeze running through, you and your companion will gotta enjoy the perfect meal here.

By the way, we were told that in near future, there will be pork dishes listed in the menu.
Looking forwards it. 🙂

Getting ready for some Asian Fusion Explosion for your palate??? here you go 🙂

娟姐客家罗面&咖喱面 Hakka Loh Mee & Curry Mee @ Taman Putra Budiman

Category : Noodles, Seri Kembangan

Gems are always hidden.

And this little gem is even hard to find out. Not until Chris&Christine brought me over, I would have never get to know this place for their good Hakka Loh Mee. Of course, you can get good Loh Mee elsewhere and the great one will be in Ulu Yam. But if you have a sudden hunger after it, you won’t have to drive all the way to Ulu Yam.

Here, a nearer place for you to drop by and get satisfied with a bowl of Loh Mee

This small stall is run by Kuen Jie (娟姐) the lady boss and the homely recipe are come from her.

Hakka Loh Mee (客家罗面)
The must-try item here – Thick bouncy Loh Mee with generous portion of ingredients were prepared in the flavoursome gravy.
Price: RM 4 (small); RM 4.50 (big).

The portion above is meant for 2-3 pax. Contunue Reading

Yap Yin Restaurant & Bah Kut Teh, Seri Kembangan

Category : Chinese Food, Food, Seri Kembangan

I have read about this restaurant review from Sunday metro last week. While MSN in the middle of night, a friend of mine, Jimmy, kept telling me on food stuff and told me he has tried out the food from that particular restaurant. Since he said that the food served especially snakehead fish are yummy, I wondered, why not give it a try?!Hence, my stomach gone hungry and I tried to organize and messaged my friends late night and told them dinner at 7pm. Hope I never wake them up 😛
The dinner was supposed to be made on Wednesday; most of the guys are not free on wed so we changed to Tuesday instead.

As I didn’t know the way to the restaurant, I picked up Yan who was showing me the way to Jimmy’s house and fetched him. Three of us soon arrived at the Seri Kembangan at about 6.45pm and Jimmy started to order food while waiting. Meanwhile, me and Yan were like waitress, setting up the forks and spoons and tea over the table.

The next who turned up were Ken, and then Roy and gf. They were quite on time. However, the rest… we have waited for ‘quite some times’ and they finally turned up by 7.40pm. I never expect there were so many people until whole gang of guys turned up and we have two special guests too. The gang of us — me, Yan, Jimmy, Ken, Jian, Yee Meng, Ah Ho, Eldred, Roy and gf, LV, Wye and gf, Delicia (if I am not mistaken) sat together and had dinner.

The steam snakehead fish (sang yu or ikan haruan) is their signature and the best selling items here. There is no way we can miss out this dish.12 of us with 8 kind of dishes, 3 snakehead fish, 1 pork, 1 tofu, 2 vege, and 1 frog. Jimmy even asked them to prepare for large dishes. This is too over isn’t it?! The worst things was when the dishes were served, those guys kept shaking the table or poked their forks and spoons into the dishes. I couldn’t take nice cum clear picture on the food. *sad*

Leong Ya Yong Thau Foo, Serdang

Category : Chinese Food, Food, Seri Kembangan

So, where should I start?! This morning woke up early cz my dad has asked us to have a nice breakfast yesterday. Actually I woke up early but dad and brother were not and our breakfast has become brunch. Dad wanna try around Serdang area and so happened that we saw this restaurant in a business area when we took the turn. Many many years ago (before it was relocated), we used to go there always, Leong Ya Yong Thau Foo Restaurant. They served delicious Ji Bao Gai (deep fried chicken wrapped with paper). I always love Ji Bao Gai. After many many years, we once went in and tried out to see whether they still maintain their standard.

We were there at 10am and we were the first customers. It was still empty cz they were just opened up their shop for business at that time. Contunue Reading
