Hailam Kopitiam @ Lucky Garden, Bangsar

Mention Hailam Kopitiam, you sure think that, nah, it is just another franchised kopitiam. I assure you not; as there is something different in this kopitiam as compared to the others.

Here in Hailam Kopitiam, coffee or tea is a must to kick start with your meal.

Traditional Hailam Roasted Coffee (RM 3.20 for hot; RM 3.60 for cold) was my caffeine fix of the day. It was very aromatic, very ‘kao’ (which is thick) and not too sweet.

Hailam Hazelnut White Coffee (RM 4.40 for hot; RM 5.60 for cold)
Traditional Hailam Milk Tea (RM 3 for hot; RM 3.40 for cold)

Toasted Sliced Bread with Butter & Kaya (Rm 2.50)
Unlike the other outlets which are using the bread supplied from the central kitchen, Bangsar outlet gets the supples from Ah Weng Kor in Imbi Wet Market. Crumbly warm toasts sandwiched with the square cuts of butter and thick kaya spread. Love the mixture of melted butter and smooth kaya. Definitely something great for breakkie or afternoon tea. Herbs & Spices @ Bandar Baru Sri Petaling

Category : Fusion Food, Malaysian Food, Sri Petaling, Western Food

As I recalled, Sri Petaling is always a food hub. We used to look around for lunch or dinner after the great walk / exercise in Bukit Jalil Park (that was years back then when the park was still pretty new and beautifully established).

Recently, Sri Petaling has got a new face. It has now expanded; with new restaurant, desserts houses, bubble tea just popped out along Jalan Radin Bagus. Guess there are more than 50 over restaurants along that road. Say, if I wanna try out one restaurant per day, I may need 2 months to complete the task!

For you who love Hainanese fares, western cuisine and Kelantanese local delights, do check out Herbs & Spices! A simple and cozy restaurant which is manned by a pair of Hainanese husband and wife; while the chefs in the house, they are specialized in both western and local cuisine.

Special thanks to Herbs & Spices for the invitation and Broughtup2share for the arrangement.

Hainanese Mutton Soup (Rm 10.90)
The soup was well-flavored; with the additional of herbs like wolf-berries (gei zi), it was quite similar to the Chinese herbal soup but with additional of soft delicate mutton.

For Western selection:

Hainanese Chicken Chop (RM 15.90)
This was my favourite. The chicken chop was deep fried into perfection and served with french fries and coleslaw.

You can have chicken chop to be eaten alone or drizzle it with the homemade Hainanese sauce for extra kicks

Lot 10 Hutong is a gourmet heritage village that grouped up the best of the best eateries in the country. Therefore, you get to try out the best of the best food in Malaysia. I would say, this is the best food court in KL city and also, the one and only food court in shopping complex that serves Non-Halal food.

My family always comes here fore meal due to the variety. Anyhow, I haven’t got to try out all of the stalls because we often stick to the same old choices that we had previously.

Many many thanks to Rachel for the kind arrangement; together with Citygal, Witch & Lionel and Ken, we were down here to sample the famous dishes from the famous stalls as well as some new faces that popped up just recently.

1# Campbell Street Mini Popiah

DSC_0587

Used to be at Lorong Tiong Nam since 1970s; but we were told that we can only find Campbell Street Mini Popiah in Lot 10 Hutong now as the one located at the old place has already closed down.

As I recalled, the queue is always long. It always took me some times to get my order done.

DSC_0404

You can choose from egg popiah (RM 3/roll), vegetable skin popiah (RM 2.50/roll) and normal one Campbell Mini popiah (RM 2.50/roll). The minimum order is 2 rolls.

We get to sample one each. The popiah(s) were filled wth lots of ingredients to create the juiciness. I love the fragrant egg version the most.

Kedai Kopi Hai Peng @ Kemaman + What to do in Kemaman?!

Yum Zhou Char 喝早茶
Morning tea (or coffee/kopi) is a habit to us; a cup of hot tea or coffee with a packet of nasi lemak or kuih. That satisfy ones tummy.

My aunts love hunting for food. When we were in Kemaman for a short break last year, we never really stayed in the rooms but went out early in the morning for breakfast, lunch, hi tea, jalan-jalan and back after dinner. Back after dinner was considered very early for them (as there isn’t much to do in Kemaman. If you happened to follow them to BKK, gosh… We would only go back to our rooms at 1am), we then bought some snack (eg: satay) back to our rooms, tv-ed and supper.

Very well known kopitiam; it was crowded in the morning and we had to fight for seats.

You may think, Tapas is something that is only available in Spanish menu;
Well, not really as you can get Tapas in Malaysian style here in Malayas Bistro, CapSquare

IMG_9430

Once I sat in here, I felt relax. I could just sit in here for the whole night, swaying along the music played by the super cool surround system, singing along with the Live Band (his voice is so cool!)…

Malayas Bistro, a hidden gem that is located in this hidden CapSquare; with the help of map, we managed to reach after some rains and bad traffics.

Dim light creates a cozy atmosphere for dining and a drinking session or two after long-day -hard-work. I would say, this is a great place ‘happy-hour-ing’ with colleagues and friends. You may find breakfast, lunch, tea time and show time in different menu.

Nyonya Colors – a shop stood at the side of the walkway that connects The Gardens and Mid Valley; draws patrons over during lunch and dinner hours and even tea time sessions. This restaurant serves a variety of Malaysian food as well as their famous and premium homemade quality nyonya kuih and delights.

IMG_4615

I was here with Sugar one afternoon, self-savouring the Malaysian delights that she missed them so much. It was quite warm inside but glad that they put up the standing square fans in the shop.

During Christmas, we have turkey and log cakes and ginger bread man cookies.
During CNY, we have mouth watering chinese cuisine such as yee sang, seafood, sea cucumber…
During Duan Wu festival, we have dumplings and ba chang(s)

and this month, we have lots of yummies from our Malay friends – ayam golek, popiah, assorted kuih, cendol, murtabak, satay, rendang, lemang, curry ikan, ayam…

Just limited to those?!

Why not breaking fast with “Ramadhan Santapan” buffet in Westin KL at The Living Room?!

Before breaking fast, be sure to cleanse your palate with the refreshing zam zam water imported from the wells of Mecca.

The zam zam mineral water was discovered in the middle of the desert in Mecca, the holy land of Islam, 2500 years ago. Scientifically proven to contain healing qualities due to the high content of calcium and magnesium salts as well as natural fluorides that encompass germicidal action.
