Mono Sushi 原点寿司 @ Solaris Dutamas, KL

It was a huge surprise that my bff flew back to celebrate my day! *touched + cried* both of us were in the mood for Japanese food / Japanese flavour, so we randomly picked one out of the few choices of those that are opened on Monday and headed over after work.

Coloured in monotone, black and white; very minimalist and laid with wooden furniture, the wall is touched with their principles and inspiration; this is a modern sushi place serving out-of-the-ordinary kind of sushi. Name it, pairing with mango, cheese, kimchi, ume shiso, natto… and etc! How interesting!

The menu is divided into 12 main category of seafood and each main can be made into 10 types of sushi with different toppings or ingredients. Hotto Matcha (Rm 7.8); Hot sweeten matcha, rich and flavourful. Such a yummy drink to start before the meal.

Our sushi platter was prettily presented. We love how they mix and match the ingredients to create a lovely piece of sushi that sooth the eyes and pleasant the palate. The ingredients were really fresh. We fancied the crunchy bits of ebikko popped in the mouth; also the creamy flavour of the Unagi Chizu (Cheesed eel) that melted straight in the oral cavity. If you asked me, I do find that these sushi are not cheap. But then again they are made with fresh ingredients and these are way far far far X10 better than those found in the sushi chains. And yes, one can still pamper a little in it without burning a huge hole to the pocket as to compare with those super find sushi places.

Sofuto sheru Kurabu & Udon Bento (Rm 31.8)
Knowing that few pieces of sushi wouldn’t fill the tummy full, we also went for their bento. It came with the udon, deep fried soft shell crab dressed in spicy mayo, a 3 Sansouku Salmon (salmon rolls topped with different coloured ebikko) and served with miso soup and chawan mushi. Bento does work as the tummy filler after indulging in pretty sushi.
