The Santa Margherita Wine Estate was founded in the 1930s by Gaetano Marzotto. Marzotto set out to make wines from a single varietal that spoke of the region as much as the grape. Today, Santa Margherita wines are known for their easy drinking and great accessibility along with their modern winemaking edge. They are available worldwide in over 70 countries.

Specially thanks to Shirley and her team of Sheraton Imperial and Villa Danieli. Glad to be at the launch to try on the fine Italian dishes and pairing with the wines from Santa Margherita Wine Estate. It was an interesting evening with the restaurant transformed into a semi standing concept. Quite a different wine pairing night and I love the idea of having my glasses cling on my plate with the intelligent glass holder. No more messed up with both full hand. Of course, this was only happened on the launch. You will be served in a fine dine way.

We started off with the Pre Dinner Drink – Santa Margherita Brut Valdobiadene DOCG. It was a delightful bubbly with a light hint of sweet scent; paired perfectly with the Smoked duck breast with caramelized apple, mint and berries coulisse which gave the palate a refreshing flavour and boosting ones appetite. Ahhh, more to come.

Next up, the antipasto
Button mushroom crusted with mascarpone and goat cheese served with rocket salad and herbs oil

and also Ox tongue timbale with gherkin, roasted cherry tomato, sour parsley pesto and balsamic reduction; which is not in the photo.

The button mushroom was earthy and fragrant with the cheese combination while the ox tongue was seriously good. Okay, I love both! Both above dishes are paired with Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio D.O.C. G which has an intense aroma came with an attractive flavour of golden delicious apple.

Squid ink agnaloti stuffed with cream cod in parmesan sauce and crispy shimeji is paired with Santa Margherita Chianti Classico D.O.C.G; which I found it oak-y but ended with a complex flavour.

On the main, you may choose in between the fish or the lamb ribs.

We ended our meal with Lemon crème chiboust with sable crumble and strawberry sauce as the sweet ending. Wish I could have more of this as it was soooo good! A sourish but refreshing desserts went with the sweet Illyquore Coffee Liquor which has a sweet scent from the vanilla bean and the fragrance illy espresso.

One may experience this five-course set menu at the price of Rm180++ per person. Top up Rm 150++ to indulge in the well pairing Santa Margherita wines with your set menu. SPG members can enjoy 20% discount off total food bill. This promotion is valid till 30 June 2014.
