“Food is like a work of art. The plate is my canvas. The ingredients are my paint. The customers are my critique” – Chef Daniel.

I have heard so much about Sage from the bff couples – kampungboycitygal and broughtup2share. They told me, this is the must place to go and their lunch set is so much value for money. However, it is always tough to make a go as the set lunch is only available during weekdays while most people working on the weekdays, right?! Glad that I got my rest days and managed to grab the partner-in-crime, Mocas to go with me on the second day of the New Year. Yay!

A Japanese-French fusion fine dining restaurant; located on the 6th floor of The Gardens Hotel & Residence. We entered through the huge glass door and were ushered friendly by the wait staff to our seats. The interior is a relaxing one with natural dark timber floors, a floor to ceiling glass window for the natural light to crawl in, the soft music playing delicately at the background and a semi open kitchen where one can witness the Chef Daniel and his team passionately preparing the dishes for his critiques (customers).

Complimentary house bread
Soft and fluffy freshly baked bread to go with their pesto-like basil and olive oil puree

Winter Black Truffle Soup with Hokkaido Scallop and Chives
A very creamy and rich soup, touched with thinly shredded of black truffles. In the middle of the soup, it was the lightly seared fresh and succulent scallop. Okay, I’d polished clean the soup with the help of the bread. Too yummy!

Fedelini Pasta Tossed with Mascarpone Cheese with Yellow Foot Mushroom and Wagyu Bacon
The Wagyu bacon was pan-fried to perfect-crisp and served on a bed of tossed pasta in mascarpone cheese. Such luxury to have wagyu bacon on the pasta.

Oven Baked Deep Sea White Pomfret with Gruyere Cheese and Rouille Sauce
Aha! This was quite a fusion dish or maybe I should say I seldom come across pomfret in a western dish as anything with pomfret is quite a Chinese dish to me. Thick cut of deep sea white pomfret were oven baked into perfection and drenched with Rouille sauce and sprinkled with shredded of gruyere cheese. It was quite simple when having a mouthful of pomfret alone; the gruyere cheese did twist the flavour and texture when you have them both. Brilliant!

Cherry Wood Smoked Duck Breast with Foie Gras and Kokabu Salad
Fragrantly seared foie gras which melted just right in the mouth; contrast-ly served along with the tender and pinkish smoked duck breast. Such a pretty and atas dish to be eaten.

Dark Chocolate Bavarois with Cream Anglaise and Grand Marnier Ice Cream
A very classic dessert in rich chocolaty flavour, touched with cream and scoop of Grand Marnier Ice cream. A perfect sweet ending for us.

2 choices of Artisanal and Fermier Cheese with Fig Terrine and Home Made Walnut Bread
Fancy something salty; go for this Artisanal and Fermier cheese.

Coffee or Tea as an ending to go with the desserts. But then, it was a bad idea choosing the coffee. Perhaps their tea will do a better job.

It was such a great dining experience to me and I will definitely revisit for more! Just can’t wait for another try!
